I was excited to come and work for Matco as a trainer, however due to lack of job training and miscommunication with people who should have done a better job at it, i left the company due to my aggravation, and things said because of it. Even though i had 17 years of experience, when i asked questions to my coworkers, it was taken as questioning Matco instead of being taken as a possible fix to a bad thing. While performing a survey (technician head count in a territory) we were going into places that a person should never go, for the sake of going, this would translate to a distributor going there and doing zero business or worse, losing money and eventually failing. This is how they found your territory as a distributor btw...
When i questioned this, i was again reprimanded. During new distributor training, we covered in detail a computer system that will be changed soon, and it was covered in detail, however; how to sell or skill on how to sell were hardly covered, and when they were? they were covered by a person who did not spend any time in a truck, and never owned a business. This is who you will be trained by, just FYI. If you have an experienced co-worker, and you have some background already, you may make it. Otherwise, you will not...lack of follow up after your first month will not be there unless you are very lucky. From my prior tool work experience, i was looking forward to helping with this problem, but apparently they didn't want it. Good Luck in your choice...
