Auto Column Widen Tool For Mac Osx

Column view is a handy way to look at large collections of files in the Finder. It's my go-to default when I want to arrange contents of Finder windows in easy-to-track lists. I like to reset the column width, however, and I've discovered a handy trick to reset it across an entire window. How to resize all columns in a Finder window Open a new window in the Finder. If you have one column highlighted then you can change the width of that one column. If you select all columns then this control will apply to the selected columns. You can also hover the cursor over the dividers between columns (the lines in the header. The lines between, for instance, the 'A' and the 'B').

Hello

I upgraded to Macericks and I notice that Apple still hasn't dealt with the frustrating column view.

Using the alt(option) drag solution resizes all columnns but you have to do it every time you select a file. What I mean by this is that each time a select a file or click over to a new column the columns resize and make all the file names unreadable. eg. 'My nice folder name' become 'My n..me'.

I use Xtra Finder but it is not working at the moment with Mavericks.

Does anyone know a way to set the columns at a specific width and keep them that way in new finder windows?
